I am a thoughtful and experienced colorist who thrives at the crossroads of art, science and technology.

Having studied art and film and spent years behind the lens as a photographer, I bring an artistic sensibility, resourceful attitude and technical rigour to all of my projects – I aspire to make the process enjoyable while delivering on vision.

More than a colorist

I have worked in the film industry for over 12 years – getting my start as a stills photographer, then editor and compositor before seizing the opportunity to become a colorist in 2006. Since then, I have set my sights on a rapidly growing collection of feature, series and commercial projects, including Hollywood heavy hitters like Elysium, Chappie and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, animated features like Kahlil Gibran’s ‘The Prophet’ and award-winning documentaries like Koneline: Our Land Beautiful.

I have a genuine interest in my projects and have a team-driven attitude. I know how to read a room and focus energy to develop and refine the feel of a film – helping directors, cinematographers and producers to (re)find their voice during an often-chaotic and deadline driven post production process.

My specialties include:

  • Working efficiently with visionaries – from those who know what they want when they walk in the room, to others who like to spend more time experimenting to ‘see it’ come together
  • Managing productive sessions and color reviews – steering the creative process among many cooks
  • Look Management – producing creative look LUTs for set, teaming with VFX supervisors to create seamless shot integration and working alongside editorial teams to ensure consistency through to finish
  • Look development – look exploration, mood boards, experimental look sessions, listening to creators’ vision and responding with effective solutions
  • Enhancing a cinematic look – deep knowledge of film process and film stock emulation, keen sensibility with texture and aesthetic
  • Color re-mastering for film deliverables – grading and supervising for 35mm & IMAX
  • Progressive Workflows – expert Filmlight Artist/Operator [Baselight, Daylight, Truelight, FLIP and Baselight Editions] ACES integration and OpenEXR workflow
